Humanity

I called up to the mountain,
Between the river and the sea,
But all the righteous people,
Turned their backs on me,
So they won’t see,

I feel the hopes of young and old,
Extinguished by the very hands of those,
Who’ve suffered more than most,
And so I light a candle,
Just to try to keep a handle on this life,
But there’s no light,
Ooh,
Don’t make me lose my faith in you,

Drones record the faces,
Of the mothers as they weep,
The decimated buildings,
The tombs for children as they sleep,
Now they sleep,

The humble lives of young and old,
Extinguished by the hands of whom should know,
They’ll reap what they have sown,
And so I light a candle,
To remind me of the simple maths of life,
Two wrongs don’t make a right,
Ooh,

And when these bullets finally cease,
Amongst the victims, you will see,
The remnants of humanity.
